When Purple disbanded within 1976, Hughes embarked on a solo career that, though marked by the total of sudden blocks & left turns along the way, continued to bear musical theater fruit by using such gems when "Play Me Out", (his 1977 solo masterpiece), and "Hughes/Thrall", (a extremely acclaimed album he collaborated in by having Automatic Man/Pat Travers guitarist, Pat Thrall, in 1982).
A mid-80s found Hughes moving from 1 high-profile gig to the next, by using albums recorded using elastic & creative person such as Phenomena,("Phenomena" and "Phenomena II: Dream Runner"), Gary Moore ("Run For Cover"), & Black Sabbath ("Seventh Star"). Per prevent of the 80s, however, an on-going drug problem had jolly swell sidelined Hughes, & it wasn't until a early 90s that a clean & jerk, sober and fully rejuvenated Glenn Hughes returned to the scene with much to-do, performing on the world-wide mega hit "America: What Time is Love?" by using a KLF, and recording the fantastic melodic rock masterpiece by using previous Europe guitarist, John Norum, ("Face The Truth"), prior to re-start an international solo career that has saved him busy recording & traveling ever since.
Presently, Hughes get on tour for his latest solo effort, "Soul Mover", in addition to collaborating, over again, by having his longtime friend, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi on the album 'Fused' due out in mid-to-late 2005.
